I invite you to join us in a concerted effort to raise Mankind’s awareness of the vital partnership for survival we all have with the natural world.
The Earth Organization was founded by internationally-renowned conservationist, and recipient of the United Nations Earth Day Medal, Lawrence Anthony. Lawrence recognized that the on-going degradation of the planet and its life systems by man has become such that, if it continues unchecked, Earth as a habitable planet will eventually be lost and, with it, the only home we have.
The Earth is in trouble.
It is clear from severely declining environmental statistics that Mankind has, so far, failed to take full responsibility for life on this planet.
- Fact: There are fifty “dead zones” in our oceans. A dead zone is a massive area in the ocean so polluted that no life can exist there. The largest in square miles is just south of the US and extends from Louisiana into Floridian waters.
- Fact: We are losing the rainforests at a rate of 60 million acres a year. That’s an area larger than the state of Florida.
- Fact: Some of the largest environmental problems that exist are practically unknown to most of the world’s populations. A case in point is the Northern Pacific gyre, and area in the Pacific Ocean between North America and Asia where massive amounts of plastic and other garbage has accumulated in such extraordinary amounts that the area can be seen from a satellite.
- Fact: It is estimated that the common ocean fish we eat, marlin, cod, tuna, swordfish, etc. have been depleted by 80%.
There is no question that a shoulder-to-shoulder effort must be undertaken to reverse the downward spiral that we have created through lack of knowledge and care in the proper stewardship of our natural resources and respect for all life.
Although The Earth Organization has a wide variety of environmental and conservation projects, if we don’t, at the same time actively educate people, and particularly young people about true environmental situations and solutions, we’re going to be saving the whales and saving the rhinos and saving the rainforests…..until they’re gone.
If you are concerned about the direction in which this beautiful planet is headed environmentally, and want to be part of the solution, your first step is to go to our web site and become a member: Join us!
Then let us know if you would like to volunteer, and in what capacity you could do so. If you are interested in starting a chapter in your area, or taking on a specific project, we welcome your help and participation.
Additionally, join us on one of our spectacular Eco Safaris to South Africa (www.EcoSafariAfrica.com) where you'll have the trip of a lifetime, you'll learn more about endangered species, pollution, environmental solutions and how to become part of the solution.
We welcome partnerships with other organizations and individuals of like mind and intention.
Here’s to a healthy, habitable, aesthetic planet!
