It's been only a few months since Youth for Human Rights International released their emotionally charged human rights music video, UNITED, and already it has been accepted into seven film festivals - and in April 2005 has landed the coveted Grand Jury prize in the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival - the largest film festival!I watched the entire DVD and at the end my eyes were soaking wet. I wasn't too shy to tell this to Mary who introduced me to the movie, and she responded that she saw many of the celebs and others in the premier wiping tears off their eyes. You MUST SEE this DVD to fully get the picture. By then, you'll have every kid and every adult in the family and community watching it. You'll be telling them exactly what I'm telling you now: "Hey, you must watch this video!"
The movie has incredible statistics. Director: Taron Lexton, 19 years old, created a rare fusion of hip-hop edge and a powerful human rights message. 150 actors. Celebrities: soul legend Isaac Hayes, movie actress Erika Christensen ("Traffic") and TV actresses Catherine Bell ("JAG"), Jenna Elfman ("Dharma and Greg"), and Lynsey Bartilson ("Grounded for Life"). Lexton crossed 14 countries including Japan, India, South Africa, Venezuela. All in all, more than 2,000 people volunteered for the cause of human rights education! An immense production leaded by Mary Shuttleworth and done by young Taron, an admirable achievement we should all support.
